What God(s)/Goddess(s) do they believe in?: None in particular.Born to Elgar’nan’s oldest daughter, Nelgorn lived a privileged childhood, given the very best upbringing ancient Elvhenan could offer— the finest clothes, tutors, food, and magical education in the vast elven empire. The young prince proved a prodigy in magic, gravitating toward frost magic, and healing under the guidance of both spirits and elven mages. While his physical needs were more than met, Nelgorn lived a lonely life, without much love— certainly none from the First of the Sun; the young elf took to seeking out the company of spirits who wandered freely between the Fade and the Physical world, finding companionship with spirits of wisdom, compassion, and curiosity.It was through them that he began to understand life for those who served his grandfather and the other Evanuris, and their plight. He began trying to aid where he was able, first giving what resources he could sneak away from the Evanuris to the common folk, then interrupting messages to Temples, and between the so-called gods. He was the least suspected, due to his age. It was during one such ‘disruption’ that Nelgorn learned the truth of what the Evanuris had done— murdered Mythal, and named themselves true gods; he also learned of the Dread Wolf’s rebellion. The young prince vowed to do whatever he could to help— even if the rebels did not know of their ally among the gods.It was only several years later, when Nelgorn neared his eighteenth birthday, that his treachery was suspected and the young elf fled, eventually finding himself in the Crossroads— with the aid of the spirits he’d befriended as a child. With their help, he found first the Caretaker, then the Dread Wolf’s general. He begged to be allowed to join the Rebellion properly, to take up arms against his grandfather’s regime, but Felassan was unmoved— the boy, at the time, was not ready.After the rejection, Nelgorn wandered, eventually falling into Uthenera like so many other ancient elves. He re-awoke thousands of years later, discovered by a young Veil Jumper seeking the artifacts he’d fallen into Uthenera with— his crown and dagger among them. He joined his newest friend, following her through a newly unfamiliar world, and aiding her fellow Veil Jumpers when he was able.

The oldest of four brothers born in the Kirkwall alienage, Runilaros spent much of his youth as other elven children might: dodging the notice of Templars and guards, helping support his family however he was able— not that he was able to help much, suffering from severe scoliosis, and long-lasting fatigue he would only discover the cause of well into adulthood. He would have lived happily the same way the rest of his life, if his magic hadn’t manifested just after his tenth birthday. His parents, knowing full well he wouldn’t survive long at the Gallows, vowed to protect their eldest son from the Chantry and their Circles, hiding him away while they were in the city and seeking help from their Dalish cousins, who helped Runilaros learn to control his magic. He would train in secret, in the family’s basement, to wield fire and ice— but, more importantly, how to use his magic to heal.When he came of age, Runilaros tried courting several young women of the alienage, both pure elves and simply elf-blooded— though it never felt right. So, rather than force himself into an unhappy relationship any longer, the young elf returned to his studies, and began serving the alienage as a healer. He watched his younger brothers grow, then have families of his own; he treated his nieces and nephews as his own children, teaching them whatever he could about the world beyond Kirkwall, how to tend to wounds, and how to read and write.His peaceful life was not to last, though: several weeks after his forty-fifth birthday while on an early morning walk, Runilaros found himself near the docks; he watched in horror as a load of cargo broke free from its ropes, nearly crushing a young dockworker to death. Without thinking, he froze the boxes and barrels in a pillar of ice— saving the young woman’s life, but revealing himself as an apostate, and (if the Chantry was to be believed) a danger to the entire town. He fled Kirkwall that same day, fearing both the Templar’s inevitable arrival to the Alienage, and what would become of him in the Gallows. The mage wandered the Wounded Coast for weeks before finally finding a suitable cavern to shelter in— a small, cozy cave not far from Kirkwall itself, well-hidden enough to escape the Constable's searches, but not too hidden for his family to eventually find him again.Runilaros realized he could never return to his old home, and vowed to remain there, in his little cave, to aid whoever he was albe— be it travelers along the roads and coasts, the Dalish who’d aided him when he was a boy, or city elves seeking magical skill, sound advice, healing, or a cup of tea. He sustains himself through a combination of healing magic, necromancy, and blood magic— partly out of a wish to aid others, partly out of spite for the Chantry, and finally, out of a fear of what waits for him after he passes on. For now, though, his door remains open to any who need help along the Wounded Coast.
